Many species are insect feeding. So, the loss of habitat supporting invertebrates on the which they feed and use pesticides is a possible cause. Bats also need safe roosting and hibernation sites which are at risk from building and development work.

Working with The Bat Conservation Trust, Wildlife World have designed strong wooden bat boxes. That provide suitable roosting spaces for these fascinating mammals with incredible species names such as Pipistrelle, Natterer’s and Whiskered. Bat boxes must have thick sides to insulate the container from excessive temperature variations and a narrow entrance hole to prevent predation. It would be best if you put bat boxes high up in your garden. Growing night-scented plants will help attract night-flying insects, which bats eat.

Worldwide there are more than a 1000 species of bat. Many of these species help humans by eating insects which can damage crops. Fruit-eating species also provide pollination and seed dispersal to help with forest regeneration—another reason why we need to work towards successful bat conservation.

Wildlife World have worked in partnership with Simon King OBE for several years now. The Bat Rack is a simple yet very effective solution, offering free-hanging bat species a convenient roosting point.
The construction of the bat rack consists of rough sawn FSC certified timber, with untreated timber batons spaced to allow bats of the same species to rest comfortably. The Bat Rack has been tested by TV naturalist Simon King and the results are stunning. The bats love it as the rest as close to, or as far apart, from each other as they choose. Take a look at our footage to see Lesser Horseshoe Bats socialising on their bat rack.
The Bat Rack comes with pre-drilled countersunk holes. This makes attaching the Bat Rack to any roof space a simple and speedy task. The Bat Rack can be sited in any roof space where bats have uninterrupted access. It is best positioned following the angle of a gable but could be used in a flat roof also.
Each panel measures 285 mm x 285 mm and multiple panels can be sited alongside each other to increase the roosting potential options.
